I'm still puzzled over the advantage of one technology over the other. The DX10 seems to be the better radio now, but perhaps a firmware update in the 710 could really make it awesome. The dials are in better places now on the 710, for example. I like my FTDX10 but don't use all the features and wish it had better ergonomics, and was a bit cheaper. So the 710 sounds good. At least as good as a 7300. It's no hybrid but it is a newer SDR design. Only downside is Icom have superior menus in my opinion.

There have been several firmware updates with the FT-710 that have addressed initial release bugs and current pricing would make it a very tempting holiday gift for someone.
